Teenager in leg wax to raise funds in memory of grandmother
A TEENAGER will be testing his pain threshold to raise money in memory of his grandmother.
Ashley Stimpson-Evans, of Wyke Regis, will be waxing both his legs in aid of British Heart Foundation.
He is dedicating the fundraiser to his grandmother who suffered from heart problems before she died in December 2011.
The 18-year-old, who is studying motor vehicle mechanics at Weymouth College, has collected more than £250 so far and is aiming to reach £300.
“It’s to raise money for British Heart Foundation,” he said.
“My Nan had heart failure before she died.
“It’s a way of remembering her and something I wanted to do to keep close to my grandparents.
“This is the first charity fundraiser I’ve done.
“It was always a family joke that Nan had really soft legs so that’s why I decided to do the leg wax.”
Ashley added: “Hopefully it won’t be too painful, I’ve never had them waxed before.
“I’m a little bit nervous about the pain, my girlfriend waxed my chest once before and I nearly cried.
“It’s something I will get through because it’s for charity.”
“I live at home with my parents and when I told them I was doing it my mum thought it was quite funny and my dad was pretty shocked that I’m actually going through with it. “My girlfriend was trying to talk me out of it at first but she’s come around now.
“I want to raise £300, I’ve put in £100 myself and most of my friends and family have sponsored me.
“It’s looking good so hopefully I can raise the rest before the day.”
Ashley will be taking on the challenge at 1pm on October 24 at Tahnees Hair Studio in Weymouth.
