Campaign to stop closure of post offices
4:00pm Friday 4th October 2013 in News
A NATIONAL campaign has been launched to stop the closure of thousands of post offices such as Lyme Regis.
Subpostmasters from across the UK this week launched the Protect our Post Offices campaign to urge MPs to take immediate action to safeguard the future of post offices.
Organised by the National Federation of Subpostmasters (NFSP), campaign postcards will be in the post office on Broad Street for customers to sign.
On the postcards, the NFSP will demand a halt to the privatisation of the Royal Mail and call for people to continue to collect pensions and benefits at the post office.
Steve Pile, sub-postmaster at Charmouth PO said: “There are negative vibes from the people who are elected to serve the community. Perhaps local post offices are the only ones helping the communities they serve?”
