West Dorset community groups offered funding advice
12:49pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
COMMUNITY groups in West Dorset are being invited to come and find out how they can access more funding.
A series of workshops are being held throughout October and November in a bid to get more funding into the local area.
The sessions are being run by West Dorset District Council, Dorset Community Action and the West Dorset Partnership and will offer guidance on how to apply to a range of funding providers as well as encouraging groups with similar aims to work together.
Leader of West Dorset District Council Robert Gould said: “Community groups and voluntary organisations make a valuable contribution to our local area.
“So it’s important, particularly in these financially straightened times, to ensure they have the knowledge and skills they need to access funding and continue their good work. “We know that many groups are working towards similar goals or need funding for similar things, so one of the key aims of these sessions is to encourage the groups to work together where possible to help increase their chances of success.”
The sessions will take place from 4pm to 6.30pm with the first at Digby Hall in Sherborne on October 15 followed by an event at Bridport Town Hall on October 24 and South Walks House in Dorchester on November 4.
Further sessions will be held at Beaminster Town Hall on November 12 and Woodmead Hall in Lyme Regis on November 14.
The workshops are free but spaces are limited so booking is essential.
