6:28pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
A MEETING will be held about the future of Weymouth’s kite festival.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council is inviting residents and businesses to come to a meeting on October 25 to look at options for the future of the kite festival.
The meeting will be held at Weymouth Pavilion from 2pm.
The future of the kite festival has not yet been decided but the council said they want to be prepared in case they can no longer afford it.
Management Committee Chairman Mike Goodman, said: “The future of the kite festival has not been decided yet but it is important we are prepared in case the council can’t afford to continue the event.
“We want anyone who is interested in supporting the festival in future to come forward and let us know what services they can offer or perhaps whether they would be interested in sponsoring the event. We are very keen to explore new partnerships or new ways of working where possible.”
The borough council is reviewing a number of budgets in the light of cuts from central government. Final decisions will not be made until February 2014.
People are being asked to register their interest in attending. If you wish to attend e-mail borough council Events Manager Charlotte Sheppard: C.Sheppard@westdorset-weymouth.gov.uk
