COASTGUARDS were called after a group of fossil hunters got cut off by the tide and a truck driver needed directions to a port.
At 7.25pm last night, Lyme Regis coastguards were called to the coast near Charmouth to investigate reports of a group of people possibly cut off by the tide and trapped on the beach.
But the group of fossil hunters were able to extract themselves.
Coastguards were also alerted by Dorset Police to a man needing directions to a port.
Shortly after 4pm yesterday Dorset Police forwarded details of the call received from a Spaniard who needed help.
After investigation by Portland coastguards, the man was discovered to be a truck driver who had been involved in an incident with a car on his way to a Channel Ferry port.
