Army Reserve recruiting bid
DO YOU have what it takes to join the Army Reserve?
6 Rifles C Company, based in Dorchester, is actively recruiting for new members following a national drive to encourage more people to sign up as part of Army 2020 plans.
The Reserves are looking to expand from 20,000 members nationally to 30,000 by 2020.
Reservists from 6 Rifles have just returned from a training exercise on Salisbury Plain.
For two weeks prior to that Reservists had been away on specialist signals, driving and instructor courses, while a handful went away on a course, which if they pass, will promote them to Lance Corporal.
Major Richard Stewart the Officer Commanding C Company, lives in Bridport. He encouraged anyone interested in a part-time career with the Reserves to come and meet them.
He said: “We’re seeking to recruit riflemen, including potential officers, mortar specialists, drivers, chefs, clerks, medics and mechanics.
“In recent months we’ve seen improvements in our equipment, our training with more overseas opportunity and our terms and conditions with the introduction of paid leave.”
“We have sailing and skiing expeditions planned over the first few months of next year.”
There will be events across the autumn to showcase the reserves.
In Dorchester, 6 Rifles C Company will be opening their doors on Poundbury Road every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9pm.
