Weymouth Beach motocross kicks off
5:27pm Saturday 19th October 2013 in News
WEYMOUTH’S beach motocross event kicked off in style, ahead of the main racing on Sunday.
Today, hundreds packed Weymouth Esplanade in the afternoon sun to watch the demonstrations of motocross on the famous sands.
Tomorrow will see more than 280 bikers start racing at 12noon tackling jumps between three and four meters high.
They will have been specially created by a fleet of diggers in the morning.
The weather looks good for the event, which is one of the biggest events in the calendar.
Sunshine and clouds will dominate tomorrow with the possibility of a few showers.
Richard Burgess from the Lions Club said they had a really good day today and were looking forward to tomorrow’s thrills and spills.
He said: “It’s a good family event and with the stalls, there’s something for everyone.”
Weymouth Park and Ride will be putting on a special service tomorrow between 10am-6pm to help people get to the beach.
