STAFF at Bluebird Care Dorset are celebrating a spate of success in awards competitions.

The Weymouth-based office was shortlisted as finalists in two awards contests and won a third.

Director Chris Scriven attended the judging day for the south west region of the Great British Care Awards after being shortlisted as a finalist in the Care Innovator category.

He reached the four-strong final in recognition of the way his care at home service Bluebird Care Dorset works with other services to go above and beyond for older people. It includes involvement with a range of projects, including two aimed at promoting dementia friendly communities. The overall winner of the award will be announced at a gala dinner on November 15.

It came two days after Bluebird Care Dorset’s Weymouth office was one of three finalists in the south west region at the Bluebird Care annual conference and awards dinner. It missed out on the top regional prize to the Winchester and Eastleigh office.

Wayne Laurence, who is partly based at the Weymouth office, won the best manager category after being nominated for a local business award.

Mr Scriven said: “We are extremely pleased with the recognition our service has achieved these last few days. “Our success in this regard is a reflection of the quality care at home that we provide. “I am extremely proud of Wayne and our whole staff team whose commitment to excellence in providing first rate care has drawn such positive attention to our service.”

Bluebird Care Dorset provides a personal care service through its home visits to adults and has offices in Weymouth and Ferndown.
