READING The Bolton News on October 15, I sympathise with the residents in Adelaide Street, as the back of Parkfield Road has problems too.

The council planted trees at the back of my house. At the back, there is a school field with a wire fence around it. That is were the trees where planted.

I was happy to have trees in the back, as it stopped children and adults going through the wire fence to go on the school field.

The council did send letters about it, but forgot to mention how high the trees would grow. It’s about four years now and they are way past the height of my house and blocking the light.

I have to put my lights on a lot sooner in the day, and leave them on in the mornings, not forgetting the leaves which are everywhere at the moment, blocking drains and gutters.

Years ago, I asked the planning department if we could put a extension on my kitchen. We were told no because it would block light coming in. Now they are blocking my light.

I believe the borders between houses with hedges or trees or even walls have to be a certain height, so why not trees that the council plants near homes? They should practise what they preach.
