Dorset Writers’ Network is running a creative ‘flash fiction’ competition on the theme of ‘Ghosts of Max Gate’.
The competition is part of an evening to celebrate Hardy’s Dorset, organised jointly by The National Trust and the Phoenix Legacy, on November 14th from 4.30 to 7 pm.
As well as the writing competition, three members of Casterbridge Speakers will compete for the best reader of Thomas Hardy prose. The winner will be voted for by the audience, although formal evaluation will also be given.
Entries will be judged at an event at Hardy’s home, Max Gate, on November 14.
There is an entry fee to submit one or more stories and the final entry date is October 31.
Stories, of no more than 300 words, should be sent to Corner Cottage, Bridge Street, Bourton SP8 5BA.
Anyone wishing to enter should contact Sue Ashby at sue@dorsetwriters network.co.uk for full details.
Sponsored by Jurassic Jaunts, audience entry is £10.
