Fantastic five: baby Skyla is fifth generation of Weymouth family's female line
THE trouble-maker, the organiser, the laid back one, the sleepy one and the good one.
Not an alternative girl band, but Weymouth’s own five generations of girls born into the family.
The fantastic five are part of a close-knit family all born and bred in Weymouth, who are celebrating after the birth of the latest female addition – little Skyla – only ten weeks ago.
The great-great grandma is Sheila Walbridge, 83, the self-titled ‘good’ one, next there’s ‘trouble-maker’ and great grandma Linda Frampton, 62, ‘organised’ grandma Cinamon Ratcliffe, 44, ‘laid-back’ mum Jade Ratcliffe, 25, and her new baby daughter Skyla O’Brien – the ‘sleepy one’, who loves her naps.
Little Skyla was born at Dorset County Hospital on August 11 at 8.22pm weighing 7lbs 15.5oz. Proud parents Jade and Ben O’Brien said she is getting on really well and loves her sleep. Her favourite toy is a purple hippo called Hilda.
Jade said: “She’s quite cheeky, she’s got a really cheeky grin.”
The family have had five generations for four years as Skyla has an older brother Alfie, who she just adores, but Skyla’s arrival makes it five generations of girls.
Great-great grandma Sheila said: “It’s a family of strong women.”
The family said they are all looking forward to Christmas to get the whole extended family together.
Great grandma Linda said: “We have always been a close family.”
She added that everyone normally came to her house for Christmas as they loved to decorate it for the season. She said: “We are really looking forward to it this year.”
The ladies of the family are all artistic as well with Linda enjoying arranging flowers, Cinamon makes driftwood art, Jade draws and her sister Chelsea, 20, makes hats.
