Coast road closure near Burton Bradstock will lead to lengthy diversion
10:30am Thursday 31st October 2013 in News
STABILISATION work has begun on a short stretch of the Weymouth to Bridport coast road ahead of a full road closure on November 11 which will mean a 42-mile diversion.
Dorset County Council is closing 600 metres of the B3157 from just outside Freshwater near Burton Bradstock for maintenance and resurfacing.
From November 4 there will be stop/go boards allowing one-way traffic but when re-surfacing takes place from November 11 the road will be shut from 9am to 3.30pm.
Kevin Cheleda, Dorset County Council’s highway network manager, said urgent stabilisation and resurfacing needed to be done and because of the nature of the work the road needed to be closed during the day.
