RAIL travellers are being invited to join in a festive first next month on a heritage line.
An atmospheric evening is promised on the volunteer-run Swanage Railway as a Christmas Carol steam train runs to Corfe Castle complete with members of a brass band and a ladies’ choir.
Featuring the Swanage Town Band and the Harmony Rocks Choir, the special Carol Train runs on Thursday, December 5, and departs Swanage station at 6.30pm for the two-hour event.
There will be half-an-hour carol singing sessions at Harman’s Cross and Corfe Castle stations – as well as at Swanage station on the steam train’s – with carol sheets being provided so passengers can sing along.
Swanage Railway general manager Richard Jones said: “It should be a very evocative and enjoyable event because steam trains at night are very atmospheric.”
Tickets are £12 for adults, £4 for children aged three to 15 and children under the age of three free. Family tickets are £30 for two adults and two children.
