A CHARITY-minded Wyke Regis youngster has enlisted his friends and siblings to run in fancy dress to raise money for the Echo’s Typhoon Appeal.

Liam Howlett, 10, and his brother and sister Ellis, 6, and Daisy, 4, are to dress as a clown, a monkey and a princess to take part in the 5km Lodmoor Park Run in Weymouth tomorrow morning.

They are hoping to raise as much money as possible for victims of Typhoon Haiyan after seeing footage on the news of devastated communities in the Philippines.

Their mum Gaynor Howlett said her children are hoping their friends and supporters will join in with the run.

“What we want is as many people as possible doing the run with them in fancy dress.

“Anyone can come and join in and support them,” she said.

Mrs Howlett said the children became aware of the situation in the Philippines through television news and reading the Dorset Echo and said they wanted to help.

She said: “They had just finished doing a biscuit sale for Children in Need and then Liam said ‘We’ve got to do something for the people of the Philippines’.

“They are such lovely, sensible kids.”

Afterwards the trio will sell cakes they have made at a fundraising coffee morning at Weymouth College.

Mrs Howlett said: “We’re not sure how much they will raise but they are going to ask their rugby team-mates to take part in the run.”
