A YOUNG mum who set up her own business with help from a parenting project is giving back by funding a lunch club for the group.

Jennifer Shorto, 22, has attended Weymouth’s Parenting Platform Project (PPP) over the last four years and with its support has progressed to become a successful business woman.

Her Weymouth firm Tiny Treasure offers customised and handmade children’s wear and will be funding a weekly healthy lunch in partnership with the PPP.

The project is held at The Mulberry Centre in Commercial Road.

Jennifer, mum to Cameron aged 3, said: “I’m very happy to be giving back to a group that did so much for me whilst I was pregnant.

“Jodie Waller and Sonia Harding at the Parenting Platform Project have supported so many young parents from all around Dorset and have changed many lives, including mine, along the way.”

Jodie Waller, joint managing director of PPP, said: “It is fantastic that young people have progressed onto such positive things and Jennifer is one of a number of young people from our project who returns to support others to do the same.

“The lunch club will not only provide a healthy meal but also help us to continue to provide a welcoming and safe place for young parents to access education and support, we are so proud of all of our young people.”

The lunch club, Mama’s Kitchen, will be held at 12.30pm every Thursday.

Any young mums and dads or young parents-to-be are welcome to the lunch club, which aims to encourage healthy eating.

The PPP session runs every Thursday from 10am to 2pm and all are welcome.

A new Parents With Prospects course will begin in January 2014.
