THERE’S a royal connection to this year’s annual Christmas Lights festival in Beaminster when the Queen’s representative joins the parade.
The High Sheriff of Dorset Catriona Payne, wearing her ceremonial hat and regalia, will walk with Father Christmas and his sleigh in the procession, which sets off from the fire station to the town square today at 6.30pm.
The Christmas tree lights will be switched on at 7pm.
She will stay for the switching on of the Christmas lights and introduce Beaminster’s Raucous Chorus who will be singing carols. There will be more music from the Phoenix brass band and Santa will climb off his sleigh to sit in his grotto and meet children.
There is also a Christmas fair in the public hall.
