A YOUNG woman has been told to expect a prison sentence after she was found guilty of burgling her own grandmother’s home.

Zoe Amber Jay Williams, aged 22, of Merredin Close, Weymouth was convicted of one count of burglary and one count of handling stolen goods by a jury at Dorchester Crown Court.

She had earlier admitted two further counts of handling stolen goods and will be sentencedon December 23.

Heroin-addict Williams was in the area of her grandmother’s home on the night of April 5 to buy drugs, the court was told. Knowing her grandmother was on holiday, Williams smashed a window and climbed inside.

A neighbour heard noises, saw a light shining inside the property and called the police, the jury heard.

Williams herself called the police and said she was inside the property because she saw someone had broken in to it.

She was told by Judge Roger Jarvis to expect a custodial sentence and was remanded in custody.
