A MAN found dead in his Weymouth home had a combination of drugs and alcohol in his system, an inquest has been told.
Colin Hymas and his partner Jane Barker found Mark Anthony Grenville Johnson on the floor of the living room of his flat in Pottery Lane when they went to see him on the afternoon of September 26.
An inquest at County Hall in Dorchester heard paramedics were called and Mr Johnson, 46, was later taken away by ambulance but attempts to resuscitate him proved unsuccessful.
Pathologist Dr Mark Deverell said traces of alcohol, opiates, methadone and other substances were found in his system and were likely to have contributed to the respiratory problems that ultimately caused his death.
The inquest was told that Mr Johnson had a history of drug use dating back to his teenage years.
Dorset Coroner Sheriff Payne said: “The verdict I record is that he has died as a result of dependence on drugs.”
