A CYCLIST was taken to hospital with serious head injuries following a crash on the A353.

The 48-year-old from Crossways came off his bike outside the Sunray Hotel at Osmington, near Weymouth, yesterday afternoon.

Paramedics were called to the road outside the pub at 2.30pm yesterday.

The cyclist was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester where he remains in a stable condition.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Traffic officers would like to trace the occupants of a silver hatchback or an MPV vehicle which was joining the A353 from Chapel Lane at the time of the crash.

Anyone with information should contact the traffic department at Weymouth Police on 101 quoting reference number 10/239.
