POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault in a West Dorset pub in which a man needed stitches for his injuries.

Dorset Police say the suspected assault took place inside the Volunteer Inn in Broad Street, Lyme Regis in the early afternoon of Sunday, December 8.

Two men sustained minor head and facial injuries.

One was treated at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester for a minor head wound which required stitches.

A man was arrested on suspicion of assault and officers are keen to hear from any witnesses who can assist with the investigation.
