A CHIROPRACTIC centre is bending over backwards to ensure children across Dorset have a happy Christmas with a donation to the Toy Appeal.

Aquae Sulis Chiropractic Centre based in Dorchester has very kindly donated £100 to towards the campaign which will help provide toys for underprivileged children in Dorset this Christmas.

For the past fifteen years, chiropractor at the centre Richard Southam has made a generous donation of Christmas gifts to the Kingfisher Ward at Dorset County Hospital.

The centre normally donates toys to the hospital by means of a ‘toys for adjustment day’.

This means that instead of the chiropractic centre accepting payments on December 9, clients to the centre are asked to purchase or bring in toys to the value of their treatment.

Mr Southam then normally delivers all the toys purchased to the Kingfisher Ward.

He has been unable to organise it this year so decided to donate to the Toy Appeal as an alternative.

He said: “The toys for adjustment day is normally a great success but I am delighted that I found an alternative way to help the Kingfisher Ward this Christmas.

“The Toy Appeal is a very worthy cause at Christmas and it’s lovely to see the smiles on the children’s faces at the Kingfisher Ward when I normally drop off presents.

“I’m sure the toys purchased with this donation will give children a very merry Christmas.”

Almost £4,000 was raised last year and thousands of new toys were donated to underprivileged children across Dorset to open on Christmas day.

Last year sacks of presents filled the Weymouth office before social workers and carers took them to deliver to underprivileged youngsters.

All the gifts collected will go to children who may have suffered neglect, abuse or be living in refugees with their mothers.

Many are in the care of families who simply cannot afford to buy them something special for Christmas.
