A WOMAN with a suspected broken ankle was helped by coastguards yesterday.
At approximately 1pm Portland Coastguard received a 999 call reporting a woman at Church Ope Cove beach on Portland.
Coastguards from the Portland Bill coastguard rescue team together with South Western Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and transported the woman to the top of the steps.
The woman was then sent to Dorset County Hospital suffering a suspected broken ankle.
Earlier on in the day, Portland Bill coastguard rescue officers also investigated a report of possible wreckage which had come ashore on the west side of Portland at approximately 11am.
The believed wreckage was debris.
