AROUND 90 bikers, many of them dressed in festive costumes, took part in the annual ‘Mistletoe Run’ through Purbeck.

Dorset Motorcycle Club arranged the charity ride-out, which raised £870 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Club secretary Bobbi White said: “We were pleased with the turnout, especially after somebody phoned me up in the morning asking if it was still going ahead because of the previous night’s thunderstorm.”

Many riders donned Santa costumes, with others dressed as elves – one biker even came as a Christmas pudding.

“He had a brown costume with a collar that was like the icing on the top of a Christmas pudding,” Bobbi said.

Organisers wanted to thank everyone at the Halfway Inn, Norden, after the pub agreed to host the start of the event.

Bobbi said: “We only decided against meeting at Shore Road in Swanage a couple of weeks ago. I have to say the Halfway Inn was brilliant, as we sprang it on them late and they said it wouldn’t be a problem.”

After leaving the pub, on the A351, the procession motored to the Sandford Labour Club for food and drink.
