DORSET Police have been warning people to stay away from coastal areas in wet and windy conditions.

As part of the multi-agency operation to respond to the flooding and severe weather the county had been experiencing, police issued a range of advice to keep people safe.

They are advising people that coastal areas are very dangerous at present and people should not visit for sightseeing or to observe the waves.

Tides and winds are very strong and people are also advised not to paddle in the sea or go out to sea unnecessarily while people are also urged not to go into the water in rivers where currents are very strong and keep away from unstable surrounding areas.

Motorists and pedestrians are also being urged not to ignore road closure signs.
