A BUOY mistaken for a person triggered a search by a lifeboat crew.
A 999 call was made to Portland Coastguard yesterday morning by a member of the public expressing concern for a kitesurfer possibly in the water and struggling to get ashore off the Cobb at Lyme Regis.
The Lyme Regis RNLI Lifeboat searched the area along with coastguards and found that the object in the water was a buoy.
Elsewhere, a lifeboat crew and a coastguard rescue team went to help windsurfers who were reported being in difficulty near Steamers Point, Highcliffe yesterday afternoon.
One of the windsurfers made it to shore with a damaged windsurf and was helped to shore by Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Officers.
The other windsurfer didn't require any assistance.
