A WELDER found in possession more than £2,000 worth of cannabis during a search of his home has been given ‘one final chance’ to avoid custody.

Jonathan Louis Stretton, of Holzwickede Court, Weymouth, was given a 12-month suspended sentence at Dorchester Crown Court after admitting possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Stuart Ellacott, prosecuting, told the court that the charge arose after police executed a warrant to search the 22-year-old’s property.

He said: “During the course of that warrant being executed and the search of the property they found 20 to 30 silver foil wraps, scales and two large balls of green herbal matter.”

Mr Ellacott said the total amount of cannabis found was 210 grams, which had an estimated street value of £2,100. In interview Stretton admitted he had relapsed into a drug habit and had been supplying to friends in order to pay for his own supply.

Judge Roger Jarvis sentenced Stretton to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, with a community order requiring him to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work.

The judge said: “You have to understand this is your final chance.”
