A MAN is back behind bars after he attacked a fellow inmate with a ladle while at HMP The Verne.
Mizanur Rahman Ahad was convicted by a jury at Dorchester Crown Court after they heard how he carried out the unlawful wounding on a man he called a ‘grass’.
Prosecutor Sadie Rizzo said that Ahad attacked the victim because he thought he had told a prisoner officer he ‘wasn’t working as he should have been’ and was asked to leave the kitchen during lunch service.
Ahad came back to the kitchen and a ‘tussle’ ensued before the pair were pulled apart by fellow inmates, the court heard.
But at the end of the shift, Ahad armed himself with the ladle and struck the victim as he made to leave. The 31-year-old was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment by Judge Roger Jarvis.
