SOUTH Dorset MP Richard Drax headed to Weymouth to talk to unemployed people in the town.

Weymouth College principal Liz Myles welcomed Mr Drax to the college-run Weymouth and Portland Job Club in St Mary Street.

The Club provides unemployed people across the borough with personal and professional advice and support, in order to help job seekers back in to work as quickly as possible.

During his visit, the South Dorset MP met with some of the jobseekers and given a tour of the facilities.

Attendees can use the on-site IT facilities to search and apply for work and can access guidance on CV writing, help with drafting letters of application, interview preparations and much more.

Mr Drax said: “I am very impressed with the College’s Job Club, which judging by the number of attendees is very much needed.

“I congratulate Weymouth College and the staff here for doing all they can to help those who want to work.

“Equally, I must congratulate those who attend because they want to work, which must be the way forward.”

The Job Club is held every Thursday at 106 St Mary Street.

On average around 30-40 job-seekers attend each week.

During the period of October 2012 to August 2013, a 175 people attended and 46 of these found employment.
