SCHOOLCHILDREN grabbed a slice of the action on a visit to a Dorchester pizza restaurant.

Year One and Year Two pupils from Milborne St Andrew First School’s Dolphin class took a trip to Pizza Express at Brewery Square to kick off a new topic.

Class teacher Audrey Andrews explained: “The visit was a fun, memorable start to our topic ‘food’ in science and design technology.

“The children will be learning about healthy eating, food hygiene, safety and food from other countries.

“At the end of the topic we will be making fruit salads and smoothies.”

On their visit to Pizza Express the youngsters were given the chance to make their own pizzas, which they were then able to take back to school to eat for lunch.

They also found out about different pizza toppings and given the chance to sample some of them. Feedback from the pupils described the trip as ‘awesome’, ‘amazing’, ‘epic’ and ‘fantastic’, with one child saying: “We wish we would make our lunch every day.”
