DURNOVARIANS are being urged to get on the move and sign up for Dorchester’s annual Lions Fun Run.

Organisers of the popular charity event say they have made changes to the event this year that will make it even bigger and better than before.

Entry forms are now available for the fun run, which will take place on Sunday, March 30 starting from Dorchester Middle School in Coburg Road.

It will be the second time the school has been used as the starting point and the Lions club says it is grateful to the school for use of its facilities. Registration will be from 9am to 10am and there will be a choice of a 2km run or a timed 10km.

The shorter route will follow a safe, flat course suitable for all ages and abilities and as usual entrants are invited to don fancy dress with prizes awarded for the best outfits.

The 10km route will cover a multi-terrain course taking in Maiden Castle and will hope to build on the popularity of last year’s event. This year will mark the 32nd year of the fun run and over the years Dorchester’s Lions club has raised over £200,000 for local good causes and charities.

Half of all sponsorship raised by runners will go to charities of their own choice while the rest will go to the causes that the Lions support.

Lion Andy Rose said: “Everyone and anyone can take part, the whole family can get active and have fun together and raise money for their favourite charity at the same time .

“The Lions club never ceases to be surprised by the enthusiastic participation and generosity of the local community and local sponsors, that’s why we love organising the event.”

Entry and sponsor forms for both the 2km and 10km events, as well as maps of the routes, are available from Goulds household store in South Street, the Dorchester Tourist Information Centre in Antelope Walk and the Dorchester Sports Centre in Coburg Road.

Forms can also be downloaded from the Lions website at lionsdorchester.org.uk.
