VALENTINE’S Day is shaping up to be a day of baking in Dorset as schools and organisations sign up for a charity-supporting cause.

Mosaic, a charity that supports young people and their families following the death of a loved one, launched its second ‘Bake a Cake and Support Mosaic’ fundraiser in December.

The charity is urging schools, local groups, clubs and organisations to organise a cake sale on Valentine’s Day or any day the same week and donate the funds raised to them.

Schools and organisations signed up so far include Dorset County Council, Westfield Arts College in Weymouth, Piddle Valley First School in Piddletrenthide, Manor Park School in Dorchester, St Mary’s Middle School in Puddletown and White Stuff in Dorchester.

Money raised will help Mosaic with its individual and family support, and help fund the twice yearly residential camp weekends at Leeson House in Swanage, where children are invited to try new challenges, meet new friends who have also experienced bereavement and remember the person who has died.
