YOUNG people will have a say on Dorchester issues after the official start of the town’s youth council.

The first meeting was held last night at the Corn Exchange, where teens discussed important local issues such as parking.

They were given a guiding hand through procedure by Dorchester mayor Stella Jones.

Lucy Armstrong, aged 15, was voted in as chairman and will lead the monthly meetings from now on.

The youth council will report to Dorchester Town Council with their official view on matters arising and will form an ‘important part’ of the decision making process.

A youth council representative will also be writing a column for Voices following each monthly meeting to keep you up-to-date.
