WHEN it comes to top TV backdrops, Broadchurch’s West Bay beats Australia, New York and even the paradise island of Guadeloupe according to a new poll.

The stunning scenery of West Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, which played a starring role in the top-rating ITV drama series, has been placed fourth in a league table of global locations used as settings on TV.

David Tennant and Olivia Colman star in the whodunnit drama written by Bridport resident Chris Chibnall, which returns to ITV in 2014.

West Bay has seen an increase in visitor numbers since the show hit the screens. Another series will be screened this year.

The Radio Times readers’ poll put the tiny Bridport harbour above the stunning scenery of New Zealand for Top of the Lake, Australia for I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, New York for Mad Men and even the sun-soaked island of Guadeloupe where Death in Paradise is filmed.
