WRITERS from across Dorset will be descending on Bere Regis for a literary event.

The village is hosting a Story Slam event on February 19 where wordsmiths will try to captivate the audience.

Each entrant has five minutes to impress the judges and author Heather Chamberlain will be on hand to check that each performance includes the words pebbles, sea and grey before the buzzer sounds.

The event at the Royal Oak pub is being hosted by the Scribblers writing group as part of the Purbeck Literary Festival, which runs from February 17 to March 2.

Writers are invited to submit their entries, with a cash prize up for grabs. For details visit PurbeckLiteraryFestival.info
