AN evening of musical entertainment organised by an epilepsy sufferer from Dorchester has raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

Alec Hodgson was supported by members of the Epilepsy Action group in Poole and Bournemouth Holly Murray and Kerry Adams as they put on a Battle of the Bands event to raise funds for Fazes, a group supporting youngsters with epilepsy.

The night of music at the King Charles Head Inn at Poole Quay saw a range of young musical talent take to the stage including Endless Remedy, Triabone and Mono Type and 16-year-old Ben Grant from Dorchester.

Alec said: “All of these talented young musicians gave up their time for free to entertain us and support the Epilepsy Action charity and help raise awareness of the condition.”

Alec added: “It was a great success and well supported by many friends and family members of Epilepsy Action in Dorchester, Poole and Bournemouth.”

The evening also included a raffle with prizes that Alec had obtained after contacting a host of companies.

He said: “I would like to thank the companies and individuals that gave to the cause.

“The total raised during the evening came to over £350, which will be used in conjunction with a campaign to support young people with epilepsy and help them to lead fulfilled lives.”

Alec has held a number of fundraising events in the past for Epilepsy Action, including a coffee morning and a charity auction in Poundbury that raised £3,000.

Last year he was recognised for his dedicated efforts on behalf of the charity with an award from the British Epilepsy Association.
