MONEY is still needed for a Bosnian youngster’s life-changing operation.

Local fundraisers have been collecting cash to help raise £15,000 for Stefan Savic, 14, to have a final operation to correct his rare facial deformity. So far more than £3,000 has been raised for an operation to improve Stefan’s breathing and for surgery on his upper jaw.

A signed book by adventurer Ed Stafford - who walked the length of the Amazon River - will be auctioned off to raise money for the appeal, along with lunch at the House of Commons with South Dorset MP Richard Drax.

Portlander Wayne Ingram, who befriended Stefan’s family when he was serving in Bosnia and is helping with the new appeal, said: “Everyone has been very generous but I don’t want people to think we’re not collecting anymore.”
