Man injured after lorry and car smash on Granby estate

A MAN has been taken to hospital following a smash between a lorry and a car on the Granby Industrial Estate in Weymouth.

The collision, between a Saab car and a lorry, happened at 10.40am this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at the junction of Avon Close and Hampshire Road.

Motorists are facing delays in the area.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were alerted to a two vehicle road traffic collision between a lorry, being driven by a 23-year-old Weymouth man, and a car, being driven by an 89-year-old Portesham man at 10.40am.

"Investigations into the crash are ongoing and we urge any witnesses to come forward."

The elderly driver was taken to Dorset County Hospital with a head injury while the 23-year-old lorry driver was treated for shock at the scene.

Thank you for support. I am the daughter of the 85 year Sabb driver who is still in hospital due to the injuries sustained. As you can no doubt understand this has been a worrying time for our family. Our thoughts and reagrds are with the Weymouth man and we hope is he ok.
