WEST Dorset residents are being urged to have their say on proposed changes to district council ward boundaries.
The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England has today launched an 11-week public consultation on proposals to reduce the number of members of West Dorset District Council from 48 to 42.
The consultation will look invite comments on future ward boundaries and ward names as well as setting out how councillors should represent four three-member, ten two-member and ten single-member wards across the district.
Chair of the commission Max Caller said: “We are publishing proposals for a new pattern of wards across West Dorset and we are keen to hear what local people think of the recommendations.
“Over the next eleven weeks, we are asking local people to tell us if they agree with the proposals or if not, how they can be improved.”
The recommendations are available to view at consultation.lgbce.org.uk and lgbce.org.uk with hard copies also available to view at council buildings and libraries.
Submissions can be sent to The Review Officer (West Dorset), Local Government Boundary Commission for England, Layden House, 76-86 Turnmill Street, London, EC1M 5LG or can be emailed to reviews@lgbce.org.uk and must be made before the closing date of April 28.
