FAVOURITE family moments will be the subject of an art competition for Dorset youngsters.

Relate, the relationship support charity, wants children up to the age of 16 to enter drawings or paintings inspired by special family times.

It is part of the national ‘Being Parents Apart’ campaign that aims to raise awareness of the problems faced by separation.

Sheila Maycock of Relate Dorset and South Wiltshire said: “We want to celebrate the fact that strong families come in all shapes and sizes nowadays.

“When it comes down to the moments that matter, it’s the quality of our relationships that get parents and kids through, rather than how a family is set up.

“We also want people to know that Relate Dorset & South Wiltshire is here to help people build strong family relationships which go the distance in good times and bad.”

There are family-friendly prizes up for grabs and the winners will be invited to an awards reception in London.

There are three age group categories – under 5s, 6-10s and 11-16s and the competition closes on March 19.
