TEA TIME & NOBODY RIDES THE UNICORN – Berry Theatre, Hedge End

A HOST of family fun is being lined up this half term at the Berry Theatre in Hedge End.

The Oxford Playhouse presents a wonderfully silly and colourful celebration of meal times in words, song, music and dance, inspired by the games we all play around the kitchen table tomorrow.

Tea Time is the perfect show for anyone who has ever made an island out of mash with a sea of gravy, pretended a spoon of yoghurt was a steam train, or realised that food is just as much fun at the end of your nose as it is in your mouth!

On Wednesday, PuppetCraft presents Nobody Rides the Unicorn. The greedy King of Joppardy and cunning Doctor Slythe trick the innocent young girl, Zoe, into helping them capture the Unicorn. When she realises that they plan to take the Unicorn’s magical horn, Zoe knows she must set the Unicorn free. But will she be putting herself in terrible danger?

Superbly crafted puppets, original live music, lyrical words and song, sound effects and moments of unexpected magic, blend to tell this touching tale.

LANDSCAPES – Forest Arts , New Milton

MIMIKA Theatre present four showings of a non-verbal magical show for all ages at Forest Arts in New Milton on Tuesday.

Step inside the tented dome and explore four contrasting landscapes with a selection of beautifully crafted puppets.

From the high-flying eagles of the desert to the bizarre creatures of the deep sea and from the colourful insects of the Rain Forest to the glacial beauty of the Antarctic, you’ll be mesmerised by the sounds and movements of these diverse animals and environments.

CARE OF HENRY – The Nuffield Theatre, Southampton

HUGO has to choose who to stay with while his mum’s having a baby.

Granny? Mrs Mariposa next door? Uncle Jack? Who will care for him – and his dog Henry – the best?

Audiences will love this gentle, heart-warming story about the friendship between a boy and his dog.

Pied Piper Theatre Company bring Care of Henry to the Nuffield on Saturday and Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Tuesday.

BLACKADDER RIDES AGAIN – Ferneham Hall

BLACKADDER Rides Again as Ferneham Hall in Fareham hosts another outing of historical nonsense from the pen of Rowan Atkinson, Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.

Interalia Theatre return following their sell-out run last year.

Staging one episode from each of the four series of the BBC smash-hit comedy that ran from 1983 to 1989, the production will take audiences on a crazy journey from Medieval Witch Trials, through the court of Elizabeth I, to the lunacy of the Georgian era and end up in the First World War.

The production, which runs from Sunday to Wednesday, will also be helping to raise money for Comic Relief.
