A BEACH clean-up set to take place on Chesil Beach this weekend has been postponed.

Environmental campaigner, Storm Wallace, made the decision after poor conditions were forecast for Sunday.

Volunteers were scheduled to meet at the Little Ship Inn, with people encouraged to bring spades and rubbish bags to clean away some of the debris brought up onto the beach by recent storms.

However, Wallace confirmed the clean-up would be arranged for the following week under safer conditions.

She said: “We will still do it but I think it will be planned for next Sunday.

“It’s a massive shame. It is meant to be really stormy again.

She added: “The wind will be nearly like what it was on the stormy night last Friday.

At least 100 people were expected to attend the event, with ASDA and Tesco making significant donations that included food and equipment.
