A VOLUNTEER-RUN job club has been given a £1,000 boost.

Blandford Job Club received a cheque from Spectrum Housing which will be used to manage every-day running costs.

Councillor David Walsh, who started the club, said: “The Blandford Job Club has been a tremendous success – not only have we found work for many local people but we are seeing more than a dozen people each week coming through the door seeking assistance and this funding will enable us to keep helping people look for work.”

The club works with employers and other local organisations to help people into employment. It is staffed entirely by volunteers, many of whom are looking for work, and there’s always a need for more.

The club, which operates out of the Treads office off the Market Place, is open between 10am and 1pm every Friday.
