Blackeyed Theatre Company bring the classic Victorian thriller Dracula to Lighthouse in Poole later this week.

Adapted for the stage by John Ginman, the story takes on a fresh lease of life in this newly commissioned piece.

Bram Stoker’s timeless gothic thriller embodies the struggle to break taboos, resist temptation and stop the unknown outside becoming the enemy within.

As Dracula’s shadow looms large over England, a small group of young men and women, led by Professor Van Helsing, are locked in a struggle for survival where only the fittest will survive. The production features specially commissioned live music by Ron McAllister, powerful ensemble performances and innovative design to create an exciting and thought-provoking theatrical experience.

Dracula director Eliot Giuralarocca said: “I was really keen to draw on the wide range of theatrical forms that were popular at that time and I wanted to put together an ensemble of strong storytellers; creative and versatile performers that could sing, move well and play an instrument.

“I'm really excited with the team we have in place. It's a fabulously talented cast.

“We have all the ingredients needed to create something exciting, memorable and thought provoking.

“I'm hoping we’ll give the audiences something that they can really get their teeth into.”

Dracula is at Lighthouse on February 28 and March 1 at 7.45pm. Call 0844 406 8666 or visit lighthousepoole.co.uk for tickets and full details.
