FIREFIGHTERS rescued two teenagers who had become stuck in mud on a dog walk in Dorchester.

The youngsters, a boy and a girl, were found in an area of deep mud up to their lower thighs.

Crews from Dorchester were alerted at 5.30pm on Wednesday to the incident off Peverell Avenue East.

A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue said the incident occurred in an area of land with patches of deep mud between patched of solid ground.

“An on-call crew from Dorchester attended and firefighters were able to get close enough on areas of hard standing to pull them out manually. “They were reunited with their families, safe and unharmed.

“With the rainfall we have had recently and the saturation of the ground, all walkers should take extreme care, especially if walking away from designated routes and paths.”
