FINAL plans for a project to repair Chesil Cove after major storm damage will be unveiled next week.

Dorset County Council’s Coast Forum is hosting a drop-in session at The Little Ship pub on Thursday, March 6.

The event will bring together the Environment Agency, Weymouth and Portland Borough Council officers, emergency planners, contractors working on site, flood risk management officers and local geologists who will all be on hand to answer questions.

The event will give people a better understanding of the storm damage and how the emergency repair works affect them.

The organisations would also like to hear your thoughts about recent events regarding road closures, beach closures and flood warning systems and your feedback on the final plans for the emergency repairs, which will be available to view at the drop-in event.

Coastal engineer for the Environment Agency Neil Watson said: “We appreciate the last few months have been particularly difficult for the community. There has been a lot of conflicting information regarding the repair works and we would like to resolve any miscommunication at this event.”

Borough council environment spokesman Ian Roebuck said: “We are working with the Environment Agency and other organisations and experts to formulate a plan for the emergency repairs works and we would like to share these with you at this event.

“We would like as much feedback from you as possible and look forward to seeing you there.”

The drop-in event is from 4pm-7pm.
