A FATHER and son marathon running duo are holding a fundraiser in Martinstown to boost their charity efforts.

Dorset County Hospital paediatrician Phil Wylie and his teenage son Ben will be hitting the streets of London together on April 13 for the capital city marathon.

The pair, from Martinstown, will be taking on the 26.2mile course to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK and are hoping to raise £4,000 for their chosen charity.

Son Ben is under no illusions as to how tough the marathon is going to be.

He said: “For a 53-year-old man and a lazy teenager, this is going to be a tough challenge!”

Phil and Ben have organised a series of fundraising events to help raise funds in the lead up to the marathon.

Their next event is a charity quiz at Martinstown Village Hall from 7.30pm on Saturday, March 15.

Tickets cost £10 and include a pasty and a raffle ticket.

Anyone interested in attending can contact Phil on 01305 889085 or send an email to suewyliedrama@yahoo.co.uk
