A rise of 1.94 per cent has been agreed for Purbeck District Council’s share of the council tax. Proposing the rise, Council Leader, Cllr Gary Suttle, said: “Due to many uncertainties, setting the budget has been difficult this year. However, with another serious reduction in government funding, I propose that the district council’s part of the overall council tax is increased by 1.94 per cent.
“Together with savings made by council officers, the increase means that we can safeguard the council’s financial stability without cutting front-line services.”
Twenty-three district councillors voted in favour of the budget and one against.
