COASTGUARDS were alerted to a lone dog spotted on Chesil Beach.

A search between Ferrybridge and Abbotsbury was carried out due to concerns for the owner and whether they were in danger.

The incident happened at 9pm on Monday evening.

Later that evening, coastguards were called after a Tug GPS Avenger lost its tow of nine 550 metre pipes in Lyme Bay.

The vessel had remained with the lost pipes and put safety messages out every 30 minutes.

Rescue teams, who were called at 10pm, will recover the items this morning.
