A MOTORCYCLIST was injured in a crash on the Dorset- Devon border this evening.

The man was thrown from the motorcycle as it travelled towards Lyme Regis around 6.15pm.

The location of the incident was given as the B3165 Lyme Road north of Uplyme, just inside Devon.

The road was closed between the A35 junction at Hunters Lodge and the Yawl Hill Lane junction in Yawl.

Devon and Cornwall Police, which dealt with the incident, said it was first thought the biker’s injuries were serious but it turned out to be not the case and he did not suffer life threatening injuries.

He was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester for treatment.

No other vehicles were involved.

Joy Raymond who runs Hedgehog Corner bed and breakfast in Lyme Road said she saw blue lights from an emergency services vehicle head down the road towards Uplyme but nothing more.

She added: “It occurred to me later the road was very quiet so that must be from the police closing the road.

“This is usually an extremely busy road; it is the main gateway into Lyme Regis.

“It is a narrow road with a few bends and there are a few overhanging trees.”
