PEOPLE across Dorset are being asked to lend their hand towards helping Dorset County Council tackle road safety.

The county council’s road safety team aims to drive down the number of casualties that happen on Dorset roads.

The team encourages road users to recognise that road safety is everyone's responsibility and that there are things everyone can do to reduce the risk of being involved in a collision.

But, to help the team better understand people's road safety perceptions and behaviours, members of the public are asked to complete a short survey before the deadline of March 28.

Rob Smith, road safety education manager said: "By doing a local survey in Dorset we’ll be able to see whether the picture is different to the national trends.

“It will be a useful snapshot of residents’ opinions and perceptions about road safety and will help us prioritise our future programmes.”

The Department for Transport undertake a national THINK! road safety survey each year which asks the public what is most important to them in terms of road safety and about their own behaviour on the road.

Hilary Cox, Cabinet member for Environment added that it is vital to understand which road safety issues are important to Dorset residents so the county council can target future campaigns to suit the needs of communities.

Whilst all responses are anonymous there will be a prize draw to win £30 Halfords vouchers.
